Personal Development Secrets – Motivational Formula used by Bruce Lee

Personal Development Secrets – Motivational Formula used by Bruce Lee

I was originally going to tell you about the process of setting little goals and how to achieve them. But on second thoughts, I don’t think I will. There are already enough books on that subject and gurus talking about it to last a lifetime.

I thought it would be more interesting to talk about setting a Definite Chief Aim.

I'll show you how Bruce Lee used the power of creating a Definite Chief Aim to make him what he was . . . and then how you can do the same using 6 simple steps.

This is more than setting little goals. It is deciding what you really want to achieve in life then working towards it. The following is the Definite Chief Aim written by Bruce Lee. He died before fully achieving it but I don’t doubt for one second that he would have achieved it.

MY Definite Chief Aim
"I, Bruce Lee, will be the first highest paid Oriental super star in the United States. In return I will give the most exciting performances and render the best of quality in the capacity of an actor. Starting 1970 I will achieve world fame and from then onward till the end of 1980 I will have in my possession $10,000,000. I will live the way I please and achieve inner harmony and happiness."
Signed Bruce Lee Jan 1969

What I am proposing is that you create your own Definite Chief Aim designed around what you want to achieve. Of course this is not a must do, it’s just that I know a lot of you already have secret ambitions you dream about.

For example;

# You may want to win a certain competition.
# You may want to earn a certain amount of money.
# You may want to become famous.
# You may want to look a certain way.
# You may want to make a certain team or grade.
# You may want something so outrageous that you have never told anyone, such as becoming a world champion or a movie star.

Setting a Definite Chief Aim doesn’t mean you will achieve exactly what you what, but at minimum it will get you so much closer to you goal it will shock you.

It is a very, very powerful tool.

Firstly you must decide what it is you want. If you already know then great. If you aren’t sure then start taking some time to think about it. And write while you think. Write down everything you want to achieve, do or get.

Just remember these 2 points;

1/ Until we know better, this is the only life you get, baby. Live it the way you want to!

2/ Don’t limit yourself. If you really want it your mind will find a way.

I have always been inspired by Bruce Lee’s Definite Chief Aim and I have been working on my own for a long time. But until recently I wasn’t sure how he came up with it.

However, I have now discovered what inspired Bruce. I’m about to share that knowledge with you!

I believe Bruce, who was a fanatic about studying books, learnt how to write a Definite Chief Aim from a book called;

"Think and Grow Rich" - by Napoleon Hill

(Find it in your local bookstore or on amazon.com if you like)

Here are the 6 steps that Napoleon gives for turning a desire into a reality. Bruce’s Definite Chief Aim follows each step. And I urge you to do the same.

Note: Napoleon originally intended these 6 steps for people aiming for a certain money goal (not a bad goal, money can buy you the freedom to live your way - Bruce included money in his Aim). But any goal can be achieved using the same steps.

Step 1 - Fix in your mind the exact amount of money or goal you desire. It isn’t enough to say "I want plenty of money" or "I want to be a lot bigger" or "I want to be a champion".

You must be definite about your goal. (e.g. exact amount of money)

Step 2 - Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money or goal you desire. There is no such thing as something for nothing.

Step 3 - Make a definite date when you intend to possess the money you desire or achieve the goal you desire.

Step 4 - Create a definite plan for carrying out your desires, and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action.

Step 5 - Write out a clear and concise statement of the amount you intend to acquire or the goal you intend to achieve. Name the time limit for the goal, state what you intend to give in return and describe clearly the plan through which you intend to achieve it.

Step 6 - (important) Read your written statement (your Definite Chief Aim) aloud twice every day. Once before going to sleep and once when you wake up. As you read - see, feel and believe you have already achieved your goal.
--------------------------------

That’s it. Practice writing out your Definite Chief Aim several times until you get a statement that really sums up your goals and inspires you.
Then write out a good copy and get it laminated and stick it on the wall by your bed.
